Known as “The Shark,” Eric Wilson has been racing around the dirt track almost his entire life. From beginning his racing career with go-karts at the age of 7 to now racing in a super late model at the age of 24, his passion and dedication for the sport is admirable.
It all started back in 1956 when Eric’s grandfather, Dale Wilson, began racing. Dale and his buddies pooled their money together to build their very own race car. When assigning a number to the race car, it did not take much thinking to settle with the number “27.” The reasoning? That’s how much money Dale and his buddies had in their pockets! This is when the number “27” made its debut to later become an important part of the Wilson family history. Upon Dale’s retirement from racing, he then passed his incredible talents onto his two twin sons, Chris (Eric’s father) and Mike Wilson. After Chris hung up his helmet and fire suit, Eric was up next on the track.
Throughout his racing career, Eric has won over 20 races between different race tracks in Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland. In addition to his stellar successes at the track, Eric has won some of the most prestigious titles and awards, including Youngest Winner at Sharon Speedway at the age of 14, Twin State Rookie of the Year in 2011, Rush Crate Late Model Series Futures Cup Champion in 2013 and Twin State Modified Driver of the Year in 2018.
